Minnesota recently passed an education bill that included a provision allowing students to possess and utilize sunscreen at school without a prescription or physician’s note.
Dr. Hook, our pediatric dermatologist and president of the Minnesota Dermatology Society, advocated and testified for this change at the House Education Policy Committee earlier this year. We are so proud of her commitment to seeing that kids have accessibility to sun safety measures in the schools!
ASDS (the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery) created the SUNucate Coalition to protect students from dangerous UV exposure while outdoors at school or at camps. Minnesota is now the 22nd state to allow sunscreen in the schools. Thank you to ASDS and the Minnesota Dermatological Society for their advocacy for the passage of this law!
